Who we are...Fundamental is an exciting and innovative new Company Limited by Guarantee and registered charity that began life in April 2005.
Fundamental did not just arrive, but was 'born' out of six years of hard work undertaken by the former company- E.S.C.A.P.E Training and Development, building on its experience, partnerships and expertise.

As well as fun, our organisation designs, develops and delivers high-quality services that are essential in positively changing people's lives and shaping their futures, especially for those who have the greatest need.
In a 'nutshell' Fundamental:
Invests in the lives of children & young people aged 6-19 through providing needs-led services, support and activity programmes.
Makes a positive contribution to society by working with and advocating on behalf of children & young people in an 'holistic' way e.g. working with parents, community leaders, police, schools, councils etc. Every young person is viewed, assessed and worked with as an individual with complex needs.
Partnerships are extremely important to Fundamental and we work with all key organisations, agencies and service providers to ensure that services are 'joined-up' and effective for supporting children and young people.
Accredits children & young people's achievements and gives them the skills, attitude and ability to go on to employment, further education and on the whole be successful in life.
Cares about and is committed to helping children & young people at critical points in their lives e.g excluded from school, dealing with bereavement, family issues etc.
Tackles social issues like crime, ill-health, unemployment, poverty and illiteracy through positive social action and targeted services.
Overall, Fundamental has successfully grown to become the largest locally based development charity in the Wakefield district and delivers over £340,000 worth of contracted services and provision per year to needy communities, children and young people. We are recognised as a leader in the Voluntary & Community Youth Sector and are making a tremendous social impact.
