Voice from CEO

Dave Hirst - Fundamental CEOLife as a Chief Executive Officer in the Charity Sector is by no means easy, as we are often threatened with funding cuts and political, social and economical factors that can dramatically affect the work we strive to do.

However, through hard work, determination and a passion and belief in the work we do, I am delighted to report that Fundamental continues to grow and develop and change people’s lives for the better.

The past year has been an extremely challenging and exciting one as we have developed our very own social enterprise business – The Hydro, an 84 cover Tea Rooms and Restaurant in Buxton Derbyshire, which was a HUGE step of faith for all concerned.

The Hydro aims to provide employment and training opportunities for long term unemployed people, giving them the necessary steps into employment and the social, key and life skills they need to succeed.

My sincere thanks and gratitude go to all the trustees, staff, volunteers and organisations who have helped make this all possible, you know who you are!!

Also, The Hydro will hopefully provide a regular source of income that will keep the charity running and help support our beneficiaries for many years to come.

I know it is a cliché, but here at Fundamental we believe and work on the premise that 'children are our future' so we are committed to doing everything we can to make it a bright one.
